The first lunar eclipse of 2021 is going to happen during the early hours of May 26.
But this is going to be an especially super lunar event, as it will be a supermoon, a lunar eclipse and a red blood moon all at once. So, I won't go into all of the science behind it (you can follow this link for details) but a supermoon occurs when there is a lunar eclipse and a red blood moon at the same time.
What's that mean to you? Well, you could see a really neat looking lunar eclipse with a red moon if you're on the West Coast of the United states. If you're out camping away from the city lights, it'll be much easier for you to get a great view of this rather rare event.
If you'd like to check out what time would be best to see the supermoon in your area just follow this link.
All you need to do is put in the name of the city that you're near on the right hand side column and it will give you the best time to see the supermoon.
Right now, I'm in Bend OR and the best time to see the full supermoon is at 4:18 AM. Not gonna happen for me! Now I may try to stay up and see it as much as I can before I get tired, I do have a telescope, but as I get older I do go to bed earlier and earlier.
If you do stay up, or get up really early, and have the ability to take some photos it would be awesome for you to share them with us. So have a super moon night.
